Sorry Sorry is ridiculously catchy. I've had it on repeat non-stop for the past half hour. I hope the rest of the album is as good as this!

eta: And speaking of Korean music, I randomly downloaded Songs for Ophelia by Ibadi on some music rotation community yesterday, and oh man, the entire album is just gorgeous. Try out one of the tracks here! I highly recommend the entire mini album.

So I was going to write this fantastically awesome entry about the mud-spewing water-fountain I saw today (with cell phone photos and all), but that will have to wait. It's awfully hot (our igloos will melt! Our polar bears will get heatstroke!) and I'm dead tired (long daaay) and I have to decide right now which courses to take because course sign-up is tomorrow...or today, rather (if procrastination were an Olympic sport, Canada would have one more gold medal). I'll comment and reply and all that great stuff tomorrow, but today, right now, I just wanted to take a bit of time before I overheat and fall asleep at my desk to say the following things:

;ALKDJSAF WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE D:!! TEUKCHUL STRAWBERRY KISS SUPERJUNIOR!"SPECIAL"!JAPANESE DYING DYING WANT PHOTOS AND FANCAMS SOON PLZ♥

WHICH IS MORE SPECIAL:
(A) SUPER SPECIAL CHINESE U
(B) SUPER SPECIAL JAPANESE U WITH A BIT OF SPECIAL ENGLISH
(The response to the Japanese version doesn't seem to be overwhelmingly positive. XD; Makes me wonder how the Chinese version was received when it first came out since Chinese pronunciation is easier to butcher than Japanese pronunciation. For me, I'm going to have to choose (A), at least for now, because Heechul's garbled Chinese > Kibum's special!English.)

I ran out of spazz!energy and also forgot what I was going to say.
I swear my next entry will have nothing to do with SJ..! :|

eta: Oh wait, I remember now! The Japanese release of U/Twins -- I'm not sure if I want to bother downloading it or not since it seems as if the tracks are the exact same as the originals, no remixing or anything, and the only difference is the packaging? D:D: It seems as useless as the Heart-2-Heart CDs!

02. List five songs that start with that letter.
03. Post them to your journal with these instructions.

[livejournal.com profile] iindefinable gave me the letter "L". It was surprisingly difficult to find songs that started with "L"!

1) Last Angel --DBSK [Japanese] Changmin's high notes! <3 (Changmin >>> Koda Kumi = MY BIAS LET ME SHOW YOU IT)

2) The Longest Movie --Jay Chou [Chinese] Okay, so I cheated a teeny bit with the title.

3) Longing --X-Japan [instrumental] The entire X-Japan On Piano CD is gorgeous<3<3

4) Le Chemin --Kyo [French] French pop! It's like Jpop...only in French! Unfortunately, I don't know where to find more French pop (I only have a couple of Kyo's songs because I snagged them off of some random person on DC++, like, two years ago).

5) Luxemburg --Kangin, Eeteuk, Shindong, Sungmin, & Siwon [Korean...mostly] I wasn't going to upload any Super Junior songs since I assumed that those of you who cared about Suju most likely had all of their songs, but I couldn't pass this one up! For those who haven't listened to the Super Show CD, at least listen to this! It's so much fun and crack and between this and the One Love MV, I am just dying for a DVD of Super Show. (I think I have a ~*~thing~*~ for Siwon on drums)

Does anyone have any songs by Apocalyptica that they can upload, or, alternatively, know where to download their songs? I've been trawling through Finnish rock music LJ comms with no luck. :(

I only have two of their songs, but they are both aldkjfas;j♥ brilliant and I highly recommend! Classical instruments playing rock music is A+++ in my book.

I've been listening to the Super Show album, and now, more than ever, I wish I could have somehow gone to Super Show. a;lsdfjsd there just has to be a DVD coming out. :x:x I'm especially fond of their version of 룩셈부르크 because it's so energetic and fun and wah, HOW MUCH DO I WANT TO SEE THAT LIVE (KANGIN&SHINDONGLOL♥). Also, Siwon on drums♥...! Siwon on drums is all sorts of awesome (see this, where he fills in for TRAX's drummer, for example).

Jin's Lovejuice (lol;;;) is starting to grow on me. Although the lyrics are in English, I have no idea what he's singing about -- and I think I'd rather keep it that way.

I was doing some Googleimaging, and it occurred to me that Heechul and Hankyung with their flaming red hair and bleached blond hair, respectively, somewhat resemble Axel and Roxas of Kingdom Hearts fame.

Heechul with his unique features and wacky hair really does look like a cartoon character. XD

eta: Oh man, it's past 1am and I really need to stop looking at Hollywood Bowl pictures and start on the damn data kd;ajf. >__o;;

I had the Prince of Tennis yakiniku episode on my computer for a while and I finally watched it today while eating dinner. That was a rather bad idea since I almost choked on my food several times (and almost lost my appetite several other times XD;). Anything the manga does, the anime does better (e.g. the volleyball episode, the billiards episode, the chibi episodes... well, the American arc not so much, but I like to pretend that arc never existed anyway). This episode shows what PoT!crack is all about. You get to see things like Oishi going batshit insane and developing devil-horn!bangs, Fuji waxing poetic over spicy sauce, Inui trying to kiss Atobe (the reason? He wanted to collect "data". DATA MY ASS), and speaking of asses, you also get to see a clear shot of Inui's bare, shiny, behind due to Tezuka's grabbie hands (someone has been taking lessons from Kangin...!). Oh, PoT♥. Can't get better quality crack anywhere else. I watched the Chinese sub, but the first part of the English sub can be found here. It's worth a watch, even if you haven't been keeping up with the OVAs (like me X3;). CRACK IS A UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE, OK. LIKE MUSIC. AND ART. :D...!

The previews made me feel a little nostalgic, even though I'd only skimmed the Nationals arc in the manga. The grand rescue of Ryoma via Atobe's helicopter (there was so an Atobe/Momo moment there; there was, there was!) was very LOL, but what was more LOL was Atobe's wig fluttering down from the helicopter. I'm curious about the scene with Ryoma in the rain and an anonymous Hyotei member! Was it Atobe who flicked Ryoma's cap? :O It looked like a flashback... Maybe I should watch the rest of the OVAs.

Other than this random episode of PoT and the recent subs of Junjou Romantica, I haven't been watching any anime at all (which contributes to my lack of excitement over the upcoming anime convention). :\ The Oofuri anime has long ended, but I've yet to finish watching. To be honest, I can't even remember which episode I left off on. D:

To switch to another topic completely... I've been listening to Cpop more frequently as of late. I've noticed that 90% of the Cpop songs (at least among the ~2GB of Cpop that I have) involve romantic love or something related. There seems to be a rather limited repertoire of song topics, which is a bit annoying (but only when I'm paying attention to the lyrics, which is actually quite rarely XD). The same could probably be said of Jpop and Kpop, but given that I can't understand Japanese or Korean (though I do notice all the "sarang"s, or however it's conjugated), I'm more willing to listen to these two genres. Isn't there anything else to sing about? :\ Or does the genre of pop necessarily mean "must include romantic-love content"?

Here's a song that falls under the Cpop category and does not involve the usual romantic-love drivel: S.H.E. (Ella) - Qiang Qiang. It made me cry, not the first time I heard it, but the first time I actually paid attention to the lyrics. Lyrics + translations can be found here.

I refuse to use the default ringtones that Sony Ericsson provides, so I make my own. I change my ringtone a lot, just because I can. ;) I figure I may as well share them because I don't like to re-use the same ringtone a second time, haha.

These are all .wav files because my phone is not advanced enough to play .mp3 ringtones (yet it is an MP3 phone. Go figure). They're all hosted on Zshare, so you can sample the tune before downloading. ^__^)b

Anyband: Talk Play Love (chorus)

DBSK: Darkness Eyes (opening) [instrumental]

Attack on the Pin-up Boys OST: New Hero [instrumental]

Super Junior - Sukira: Kiss the Radio (opening, Eunhyuk rap)

Super Junior-M: Zhe Yi Miao (Henry rap)

Super Junior-M: Zhe Yi Miao (opening, Henry rap)

Super Junior: Success (opening, Donghae rap)

And lastly, this is a really pretty opening from some song. But...I have no idea what the song is. X3;; I've been using it as my ringtone for a while now because the violin + drums combo sounds gorgeous. Someone on Youtube used the song as background music for a fanvid, but now I can't find that video anymore, so I'm just stuck with an audio rip of the unknown song. If anyone can tell me what it is (and provide a full mp3), I would be very grateful. :D

Beijing Welcomes You is an awfully catchy song (I guess that's the point, huh? ;)). I sent the video to my parents just for kicks and because I was curious how many artists they could recognize. I'm ashamed to admit that I only recognized two of them: Jackie Chan and Han Geng. My mom named about half of them, including Jay Chou. I have over 300MB of Jay Chou songs, but I can't recognize him by face. *epic fail* Same goes for singers like Jang Nara, Wang Lee Hom, Lin Jun Jie...I like their music, but I have no idea what they look like. ;;;

The latest update about the Spider Issue:
My housemate is terribly good at finding spiders -- I could hear her banging on the wall with the sponge mop and occasionally shrieking. Somehow, within ten minutes of arriving at home, she located five spiders, and then I joined her in the shrieking and whacking and the "you kill it"/"no, YOU kill it!" -- we managed to kill three out of the five. 60% success rate: not bad for two bug-o-phobics, right? After I got back to my room and was comfortably seated in front of my computer, I saw a creepy crawly thing scurry across my desk. I immediately smushed it with some Kleenex and mentally congratulated myself for being brave. And then the revulsion hit and I was all, "aldjfadjOMG UGH...! *shiver shudder twitch*" Maybe I should consider exposure therapy. .__.

I signed up for Korean lessons a few weeks ago, and now I have three weeks of Korean experience. :D [/Horio moment] And by three weeks I actually mean five hours. This is the first time in a very long while that I've wanted to learn something just for myself and not for school, CV-boosting, etc. Aside from learning the language itself, I also want to see how I learn (pick my own brain, or so to speak XD). With both English and Chinese, I'm fairly good with learning and memorizing new vocab. However, when it comes to memorizing a strung-together sentence, I falter. I'm awful with reciting poetry and I have a hard time memorizing lyrics as well as melodies. In other words, I am good at remembering (and making use of the) parts, but not the whole -- I wonder how this will effect the way I learn a foreign language.

Some of the people in the class are able to look at a Korean character and read it aloud immediately. I have to look at the character, decipher the parts, and translate it into a romanized version in my head, before I can pronounce the word/syllable. I'm probably faster at writing than I am at reading. >__O;; The thing that's slowing me down the most is the fact that I'm still thinking in romanized form, rather than instinctively recognizing the vowel or consonant (which will come with practise, I hope). When I think of Chinese words, I come up with vague images of what the character might look like -- the character might not be accurate at all, or I might be thinking of the semantic meaning of the character, but I would not be thinking of pinyin. With both Japanese and Korean, I always think in terms of romanization, which makes sense since the English alphabet is the most familiar to me, and thus my brain's default setting.

This whole "thinking in certain languages" thing has always been of interest to me. In high school, I used to go around to my bilingual friends and ask them what language their dreams were in, and then try to figure out whether their thoughts featured more of one language than the other. Upon occasion, when my thoughts wander, my brain switches between English and broken Chinese with random bits of French, Japanese, and, recently, Korean mixed in.

Speaking of French, I wonder if I will end up with better Korean than French at the end of the ten-week lessons. French was a mandatory class for six years -- I dropped it as soon as I reached grade 10. XD 20-hours versus six years...well, perhaps personal interest matters too since that does determines the amount of practise and use outside of class, so, who knows.

And speaking of Korean, the k/g sound is too subtle for me to figure out under which circumstances the consonant is pronounced "k" and when it's pronounced "g". Also, all the different writings for the "eh" and "weh" sounds drive me nuts. HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN TO USE. D: "ch" and "j" sound the same, and I don't understand the difference between "k/g" (kee-yuhk), "k" (khey-euk), and "double k/g" (ssang kee-yuhk -- and alksdfjl; at the double letters D:). It would probably be easier if I could type out the actual characters. But I can't figure out the Korean keyboard either (I know how to turn the function on...but each key stands for something different and if you press them in the wrong combination something funny comes out D:).

I have a friend who draws quite well, yet she doesn't enjoy it because she finds it very agitating and stressful when something doesn't turn out the way she had intended. The majority of my drawings turn out very differently from what I had pictured in my mind. XD;; However, for me, my mind can completely relax when I'm sketching, even if I don't like the final product. I can easily spend two to three hours listening to music and working on a sketch. Inking and CG-ing (especially CG-ing) are much more stress-inducing though!

I was listening to Jang Ri In's Timeless (Chinese ver.) the other day and I was thinking about how there was so much implied ShiHan-ness in the MV (because I am a biased fangirl like that). And so, I drew this:
Hankyung & Siwon, Timeless AU )

And the following...is a cracked-out-comic version of Timeless. XD; It makes more sense if you've seen the music videos. Er, relatively more sense, anyway.

And the following...is a cracked-out-comic version of Timeless. XD; It makes more sense if you've seen the music videos. Er, relatively more sense, anyway.

I think most of my RL friends have heard my I-dislike-children-strongly-(unless-under-special-circumstances) rant. But reading posts like this makes me think that it might be nice to have kids in the (far far) future. XD

So there was this fly buzzing around in my room last night. I find the prospect of smushing it rather disgusting, so I tried to threaten it and lead it out of my room. Now, this fly, it must've known that was only threatening when I flailed a rolled up piece of paper around. It just crawled around the wall, not flying no matter how close I came to it. When my mom entered the room, it immediately sensed her intent to kill. It flew all the way up to the ceiling as soon as she came near. These bugs! They're getting smarter! D:

It is very irritating when all of your torrents get stuck at 99.8% for the past several days and refuse to budge.

Top 3 catchy songs:
Big Bang - Dirty Cash [K-pop]
KAT-TUN - Yorokobi no Uta [J-pop]
Tackey & Tsubasa - Crazy Rainbow [J-pop; I promise that you will be chanting, "crazy crazy rainbow star" after you listen to this!]
